Okay...I know it's been a while since I last posted, but the oven has been going non-stop and the cakes are flying out of the kitchen!

I just dropped off another seashell-themed wedding cake, this time to the beautiful Sea Venture Resort down in Pismo Beach. It's a small wedding (only 35 people), but, oh boy....you can't beat the location. The fog had burned off and the view of the ocean was fantastic!

The bride requested the colors to be white and periwinkle, so I covered the cake in white fondant and sponged it with periwinkle royal icing, then added a sheer periwinkle ribbon around the base of each tier. The seashells are white chocolate that I 'painted' with various colored luster and pearl dusts. The cake itself was white genoise with strawberry cream cheese filling.

This seashell design is very popular here on the Central Coast (for obvious reasons!) and I love making the edible decorations. You could also add edible coral, cute little seahorses, fish, bubbles...the sky's the limit. (Or should I say....the ocean?)
